Job that asks for a fee: warning signs and what to do
What to do
Recruitment that asks for "registration", "training" or "security" money before you start is a common fraud. Check the employer independently.
Warning signs
- Offers a job.
- Asks for training, uniform or security money before a job.
- Promises a government job, posting, transfer or promotion "arranged" for you.
How this scam has played out
Government jobs, postings or transfers "arranged" for money
People claiming to be senior officials or relatives of influential figures promise a government job, posting, promotion or transfer in exchange for money, often over WhatsApp. In May 2026 Dhaka Metropolitan Police's detective branch arrested two people, one of them a Home Ministry employee, accused of taking large sums this way. Government recruitment and transfers do not involve private payments.
